Raffia
Raffia
is obtained from the leaves of the Malagasy (Africa) raffia palm. Their
tough outer transparent skin is peeled off and dried to form the long,
familiar strands. Prepared, or processed raffia is also obtainable.
Working with raffia is pleasant work, requiring only a small needle
for a tool to weave its long strands.
